# What You'll Need:
→ Onion Base
01 - 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
02 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
03 - 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
04 - Pinch of salt
→ Latte Components
05 - 2 shots freshly brewed espresso (2 ounces total)
06 - 1 1/4 cups whole milk or oat milk
07 - 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup, optional
# How to Make It:
01 - Melt butter in a small skillet over medium-low heat. Add sliced onion, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Sauté gently, stirring occasionally, until onions become deeply golden and caramelized, about 12–15 minutes. Patience ensures optimal sweetness and flavor.
02 - Transfer caramelized onions and pan juices to a blender. Add 2 tablespoons milk and process until perfectly smooth. Pass mixture through a fine-mesh sieve for a silky consistency.
03 - Extract two shots of espresso and divide evenly between two cups.
04 - Stir 1 tablespoon strained onion purée into each cup of espresso, blending thoroughly.
05 - Heat remaining milk until near boiling point. Froth vigorously using a milk frother or whisk until creamy and foamy.
06 - Pour frothed milk over espresso-onion blend in each cup. Sweeten with honey or maple syrup if preferred. Stir gently and serve without delay.
